Why choose our school?

St James Catholic Primary School Glebe provides a holistic education within a newly renovated and richly resourced school. We encourage our students to become the very best version of themselves, as we support them with opportunities such as The Newman Selective Education Program, and through broad co-curricular activities. Our happy students achieve excellent academic results in return.

Teachers, parents and students are enlivened by the Catholic values embedded in the caring community of St James. In partnership with parents and parish, we provide guidance to every child so that they can fulfil their potential and make a positive contribution to the world.

Principal’s Message

The time your child will spend in primary school is a most significant period in your child’s life and in the life of your family.

At St James Catholic Primary School Glebe, we strive for genuine partnerships in the education and faith of children. We will guide, support and assist your child in every possible way and take a genuine interest in your child’s wellbeing.

We offer a holistic educational experience with an exciting and contemporary curriculum. The school provides a comprehensive array of educational activities that cater for the needs of individual students. The class programs, school celebrations and interactions with all members of the school community reflect the spiritual life of the school.

As a school, we strive for excellence in all academic areas and we are very proud of our students’ successes. All students are encouraged to put forth their best efforts and are challenged each day by their teachers to reach their full potential.

This will be the beginning of a fruitful, rewarding and enriching faith and learning journey for your child

May the Lord look upon you with kindness and give you peace.

History
Our school motto, ‘Fully Alive in Christ’, is derived from St Irenaeus:

‘The glory of God is the human person fully alive’ that is, is to be filled with all the fullness of God. The more we are filled with God, the more we are filled with peace, patience, kindness, compassion, generosity, joy and every gift of the Holy Spirit. We are also inspired by the Gospel verse: ‘I have come that they may have life and have it to the full’. (John 10:10)

At St James Catholic Primary School Glebe we live life to the fullest, finding God in our everyday life. St James places importance on its Catholic identity and the ongoing commitment to giving witness to the charism of the Sisters of the Good Samaritan who founded the school in 1880. Our school embraces their values of prayer, listening, compassion, stewardship, community and partnership.

As a faith-filled community ‘Fully Alive in Spirit’ we celebrate, believe, witness, pray and nurture the Catholic life and faith of our school community. It is about following in Jesus’ footsteps.

As a faith-filled community ‘Fully Alive in Mind’ we inspire, motivate and engage each member of the community to foster and promote lifelong learning. It’s about quality learning.

As a faith-filled community ‘Fully Alive in Relationships’ we welcome, collaborate, support, listen and connect to explore and make a positive difference in our world. It’s about being a positive and caring person.
